BLEECKER STREET

AMA collaborated with Sybille Schneider and the Leroy Street Studio Interiors team on the renovation of a loft on Bleecker Street in Manhattan’s NoHo. The bones of the building share the stage with whimsical architectural moments and an earthy material palette. Cast iron columns were uncovered and lacquered, and the brick walls were given a subtle wash. The ceiling in the main space folds up into every third joist bay providing surface relief and a nod to the buildings structural system. A fumed oak floor provides a warm backdrop to the cypress cabinetry. A corner cabinet frames lacquered steel shelving and a rough cut Corinthian granite fireplace. Also clad in cypress, the kitchen island is trimmed with brass details and topped with a custom ash butcher block by Grothouse alongside an Arabescato Orobico countertop. The integrated cooktop is flanked by custom made brass and glass hanging shelves. Completed in 2021; built by Black Square Builders. Photography by Nicole Franzen
